That is EXACTLY what happened when we got back from all the traveling we did over the holidays. We had finally established a nice pace in our home life when each of us got sick and everything fell apart. We are thankfully all doing better, but the catch is now we have to establish a routine ALL over again. Oh well, I have decided this is just a requirement of living in this life.
For Family Home Evening in December we tried to do a "Christmas" themed activity every family night. This night we decided to make a HUGE blanket fort and then watch "Arthur's Christmas." The kids LOVED and absolutely had a blast making this fort. I can't forget to mention the kids thought it was hilarious to tear it down. Among our other family home evening activities we made gingerbread houses and made cookies. It was a fun Christmas season that we had the chance to begin some fun family traditions.
This was the first year that Jj met Santa Clause. He was very intrigued by Santa's attire. Though Ji seemed to find Santa peculiar, he was not afraid and didn't feel uncomfortable sitting in his lap. Missy was definitely much more reserved about sitting on Santa's lap. She still managed to keep her cool.
Above you will see the new found activity the kids discovered on one of our snow days. The activity consisted of the kids climbing onto Missy's bed and proceeding to jump off, slide off, or roll off in the silliest way they could possibly imagine. This activity provided priceless entertainment for over an hour! Why do you need a playground when you can create one in the comfort of your own home?
These pictures were taken over our fun 10 day trip to Utah for our cousin's wedding. Jj found a dog statue at the reception garden we attended. Jj was the focus of my pictures over this break because he was so easy to photograph. One of my favorite pit stops in Salt Lake included a stop at one of our favorite chocolate shop in Salt Lake City: Hatch Family Chocolates. You have not lived until you have had a cup of their delicious freshly made cup of dark or milk hot chocolate. You will never be the same again!
We can't forget to mention our exciting trip to Indiana for Christmas to visit Gigi and Pappy. Here are the Three Musketeers. I found all three of these munchkin Christmas Eve all hanging out in their Uncle Trevor's room. It was the cutest picture I had ever seen! These three kiddos had a ton of fun playing together. Missy to this day will ask to play with her cousin Coop. This was also the first Christmas we made a BIG deal about Santa visiting our house Christmas Eve. We set out cookies, and explained to Missy that she needed to go to sleep in order for Santa to come. The next morning when she woke up the look in her eyes when she saw all the presents laid out under the tree from Santa made Christmas magical all over again for me. There is just something about creating a magical memory for our children that makes all the toil and sacrifice worth it.
All in all this holiday season was very special and we created countless memories. We are so grateful for the many opportunities we had to travel and visit our families. It was surely a time that we cherished and will look back and be grateful for.
